The five scenes from The Vision of the Flaming Chariot to St Francis in Ecstasy
(No. 8-12) are characterized by inferior workmanship, especially in the figures,
though they do contain some remarkable inventions. Worthy of note in the Vision
of the Thrones are the trompe-l'oeil clarity of the thrones suspended in space,
and the depiction of the lamp in front of the altar, which has a cord for lowering
it to replenish the oil.
