In this scene the blanket that covers St Francis as he sleeps has a similar
tangibility than the mantle in the previous scene. The composition of this scene
is very similar to that of the the Dream of Innocent III (No. 6). The bedchambers
in the two frescoes call to mind the scenes of Isaac, though the furnishings
and architecture appear to be more in keeping with the style of Giotto's time.
The dream is depicted very literally : it is of a strange narrow palace in the
Italian Gothic style, which stands next to the bed as if it formed part of the
sumptuous fumishings of the chamber.
