Two episodes are shown in the same fresco, separated from each other by the column of the royal palace. The architectural element (the column) is the centre of the composition and the vanishing point for the whole fresco. The episode on the left is drawn from the "Golden Legend", while that in the right is an iconographical element added by Piero.
